Introduction
This freewheeling conversation with Bob Beatty (then of the American Association for State and Local History) begins with local history but quickly veers into place, museums, and memory. The talk weaves and bobs, is full of digressions and good humor, with Al promising to let Bob return someday—if he can keep himself under control. That hasn’t happened yet, but it probably should.
