Introduction
The Midwest has been central to American and world history, yet Midwesterners themselves are often diffident about their past. Jon Lauck’s The Lost Region: Toward a Revival of Midwestern History is part illustration, part manifesto, and part call to arms for renewed attention to the region’s significance.
In this conversation, we discuss why Midwestern history matters, how the Midwestern History Association came to be, and why we hope Warren Buffet is listening.
About the Guest
Jon K. Lauck is a native of Madison, South Dakota. He was the founding president of the Midwestern History Association, the associate editor and book review editor of the Middle West Review, and an adjunct professor of history and political science at the University of South Dakota.
